In Spanish

So Aubree may be a little confused about the concept of speaking Spanish, but she makes me laugh, so I hope it continues for awhile.

Aubree: These scrambled eggs are tasty.
Me: Tasty, huh?
Aubree: Yes, "tasty" that's Spanish for "yummy."

*************************************
If you haven't seen the Princess Bride, you might not get this, but sometimes Aubree and I borrow the way that Buttercup and Wesley say "I love you" by using the phrase "As you wish." We call it our little code. I know, we're weird. So tonight it went kind of like this:

Me: Goodnight, Aubree, I love you.
Aubree: (to me) Goodnight, I love you. As you wish... (to Chris)... "as you wish" is Spanish for "I love you."

*************************************
At lunch the other day I was unsuccessfully trying to convince Aubree to eat the tomatoes from my salad,

Me: Hey, Aubree, would you like to try one of my tomatoes?
Aubree: No, I do not want your "tomatokaleena, waleeena, maleenas" (cracking herself up) "kaleena, waleena, maleena" ... that's how you say "tomato" in Spanish...(long pause) Oh, and sometimes it means "strawberry."

*************************************

Me: Hey, Aubree did you know that Mommy used to teach Spanish?
Aubree: How did you teach it? Like this? Meeegle, weegle, sheegle, dillly, woowz" (walks off cracking up and muttering to Doc in "Spanish.")
************************************
Occasionally, when I use a big word that she doesn't know, she asks me if it's Spanish.

CHRIS WOULD LIKE FOR ME TO MENTION.... that she also is using some real Spanish, although she may not know the difference. She says, arriba, abajo, abre, gracias, and all of her colors and numbers 1-10 and a smattering of other words.

Thank you, Dora with a little help from Mommy, who made up the color song.

Ponies, Raccoons, and Snakes, Oh My!

We took a little mini-vacation down to Brown County this past weekend. Here are a couple of shots from my phone. Hopefully there are some more good ones on our camera!

Vacation was loads of fun! Here is Aubree riding a pony, named Oreo. She was super excited at first, but about halfway around the track she said she was done. Luckily, we were able to distract her and keep her on for the full lap!

There's a nature center at the park, and this was the scene out at the bird viewing area. Apparently raccoons dine there for some easy access bird seed!

And here's a snake down by one of the lakes. Hard to tell what kind it is... Let's hope it wasn't poisonous!

Aubree was also excited about this fuzzy caterpillar.
I don't think we got any pictures, but Aubree was also excited about the lookout "tower" up on one of the hills in the park. We told her it was a princess tower! Is that wrong? Those of you familiar with Brown County know which tower I'm talking about.
The hotel we stayed at had a pretty awesome pool. Aubree wasn't too thrilled about the parts of the pool where she couldn't touch, but she did get braver by the last day and would float down the lazy river on some noodles with minimal hand-holding.
Jada, on the other hand always wanted to put her face in the water! She was even bending her knees to jump to us off of the under water benches. It's funny to find the things that Jada wants to do more than Aubree.

Daddy likes to grow out his hair for vacation! Sure grows fast. Seems like I had just shaved it on Friday...

Back at the Museum... Again

...and a good time was had by all!

Just being Jada

Hi-eee!

The Little Dipper

Our little piece of the tropics...

This mommy has spent a lot of time "swimming" out back with the girls. The neighbors are probably laughing at me, but at least I've got a little bit of a tan out there. Note that I will NOT be including swimsuit photos of myself.

The Big Dipper

We decided to brave another trip to Grandma Kathy's big pool, even though the first visit this summer was kind of rough (Aubree was scared of the water, and Jada was working on a double ear infection!-- Not fun!!) This second visit was much more successful. For one thing, Jada decided to start off by NOT skipping her nap.
Love these cherubic little cheeks!
Aubree was much happier this time. She was playing in these fountains and "kicking and paddling" in the pool all day!
Once she wrapped up her nap, Jada was pretty fearless. She LOVES to splash.
Sometimes, she's a little too brave. She got some pretty big drinks!
Thanks for a fun day, Grandma!

We "Heart" Our Library

Here we are a the Teddy Bear Picnic sponsored by our super library. We had a Teddy Bear parade, snack, story and craft. We also got to see our buds. Here's Jada's little buddy Tristan. He looks pretty intrigued by what's going on.

Here's Jada, providing rhythm for the parade and having lots of fun!

Catrece loves her little pal Jada. She even loaned her a Teddy Bear for the picnic.

Aubree, Fifi, Doc, Catrece, and Pooh Bear-- camped out and ready to have a good time.

Not sure what Catrece is up to in this picture, but I love their little personalities!!

We had a great time as we always do at our library!!

Aubree Style

Aubree is all about picking out her own clothes now and dressing herself.
This little pink tutu gets out in public a lot more than I would choose, but it's not a battle worth fighting, and I have to admit that she looks pretty cute in it.

This doesn't happen much, but here she is actually putting the right bling-tastic shoe on the right foot. I love that she's getting more independent, but her new skills and stubbornness tend to make us even LATER to everything since she is feisty and gets mad when we try to help. If you know us, you know that is NOT a good thing.
