Time for num-nums

Here's some video coverage of Aubree's first experience with rice cereal. It sure is fun watching our little baby grow up! Pretty soon it'll be prom dresses and college applications!

so cute

cereal

Before... After...

Aubree had her first taste of rice cereal today. She seemed to really get into it...literally. She was so cute using a spoon for the first time. I know it looks messy, but she actually was quite a little pro. She's been fascinated by every meal we've eaten lately. She must have been taking notes because she was attacking her spoon. We had fun. She had another big girl milestone last night. She spent the night in her own room instead of crashing in our room. I think it was harder on me than on her. I missed her sweet little noises. We're not making the move to her room permanent yet. She just happened to crash in her crib, and we didn't have the guts to risk moving her and accidentally waking her up.

blogging about babysitters

So in the last few days we've had a couple of different baby sitters watch Aubree for us. On Sunday, all the folks in our Bible Study went out for some fun and games and we had a couple of teenagers watch Aubree (and Catrece). That went well for the most part. There is a funny and slightly disturbing story we could tell, but there's no need to embarrass either of the girls (in case they read this!).
Then last night a bunch of us from church went to a Hillsong United concert. It was a ton of fun since we got to hang out with friends, listen to some great tunes and also had a good worship experience. The only drawback was not getting home until about 11:30! That was a pretty long day to go without seeing Aubree (especially for mommy)!
But Aubree got to hang out with Catrece and Misha got to hang out with Sampson.
Here are a couple of pictures of the girls...man, those are some cute kids, huh? Hopefully you know which one is Aubree! :)
(Note: images taken from here)

I guess Misha wasn't photo worthy, but I assume that there would have been some cute ones of Misha and Sampson playing too!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

(I'm smiling on the inside.)

Mmmm... the card tastes yummy...

but I prefer my piggies.

Happy birthday, Grandma. We love you!

Bunny slippers

I know we're going a little crazy with the pictures, but as fast as she is growing, we think everytime we put her in something cute, it may be the last time it fits her.

Chillin' with my girls

Just the girls hanging out. As you can see, Misha needs love, too! She is just a little jealous, but she's being a very good doggy.

I sat like this for way too long yesterday. Aubree was conked out. Never wake a sleeping baby, especially when the baby has a set of lungs like Aubree's.

So tired...

I guess going back to school makes everyone tired. Aubree has been sleeping quite a bit this weekend.

Mommy and Daddy are tired too, but it's a little harder for us to get napping time in! It's even hard to get regular sleep. Saturday night, Aubree had either a tummy ache and/or needed more food. Either way, she was awake until about 11. Did I mention that she was screaming most of those last few hours?

back to school

I'm pretty sure Aubree grew up a bunch this week while I was back to work. Chris and I both noticed that she is starting to look more like a little kid and less like an infant. I guess that's inevitable. I can't believe she'll be 4 months old in a couple of days. She gives cute little smiles and giggles to everyone, and she LOVES being lifted up in the air. The week at Dana and Richard's went pretty well. As hard as it was to leave her, I was glad to be back at work. I forgot over the summer how much I like my job and my school. It's nice to be back among friendly faces. Knowing that I'm leaving her with a trusted friend makes the transition easier, and Josh (4) and Jake (2) love having her around-- so far.

It's not just Aubree who is changing. Motherhood has caused me to suddenly get ready in the morning in half the time it used to take, to eat every meal single-handedly in about 10 minutes tops, and to actually become a safe responsible driver. For all of those who thought it would never happen, the minute her little face was reflected in my rearview mirror, my rate of driving slowed by about 10 mph! It's interesting how that instinct kicked in, and I'm suddenly almost comically protective of our little girl. Oh, I've also developed the skill of blogging while this cutie pie is curled up and snoozing on my chest. She's snoring right now. What a sweetie pie!

Well, just wanted to check in so everyone knows that we made it through the first week of back to school. :-)

Take care!

Grumpy

This was our first attempt at "big girl time" in the high chair.

Somebody wasn't too happy about it.

Buds :-)

This is Aubree chilling out with her little buddy Catrece. We didn't manage to get a picture of it, but Aubree was sticking her fingers in Catrece's mouth, and they were holding hands for awhile. Too cute!

look what I can do!

Aubree learned how to do this yesterday. She went from her back to tummy and then from her tummy to back within a minute.

Aubree, the scholar

It looks like baby Aubree is a reader like her mama...

Except, as a rule, I try not to drool on my pages.
