just hanging out and playing

Aubree gets pretty excited about playing with her Play-doh. I tried to upload a cute little video of this playtime, but it was taking FOREVER, so you'll just have to imagine her doing cute things like making her play-doh worm kiss my play-doh worm.

It's amazing how big she's getting. She'll pick up her blocks and toys and put them away. She'll sit on the piano bench and sing her ABC's while she "plays the tune." She's also getting big enough that she's starting to do things that make me nervous, like climbing onto and off of our high kitchen table chairs by herself and taking on the stairs by herself. Her favorite things right now are her Little People Castle building blocks. Her Little People princess and farmer are good buds. Tonight Chris was teasing because the farmer and princess were in the hayloft of the barn together. She also loves counting and reading. She can count clear up to 17 (although she leaves out "10" most of the time, and the teens have a tendency to get a bit juxtaposed.) She has partly abandoned her Dora fixation for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (and I'm not complaining!) She's also gotten more attached to her blankey-- maybe because she's been kind of sick. She's still a big fan of tub time. I guess it can "over relax" her since last Saturday morning, Chris was hollering "Poop in the tub!" through the house at the top of his lungs. Gross!

She's keeping us on our toes around here!

She might have figured it out...

Last night Aubree and I were playing with my little Russian nesting dolls, you know the ones that split in half and go from little to big. I think I finally got her to realize that this big bump in my middle is actually a baby sister and not just something for her to jab her elbow into everytime she climbs into my lap. She had a pretty cute little "lightbulb" moment when I showed her how the middle-sized doll was the big sister and how the itty-bitty doll was her baby sister. I even think it was clicking when I showed her that the tiny one was going to come out of the Mommy doll. The good news is she was hugging the itty-bitty doll and kissing it with the big sister doll. There is hope that she's not going to just be completely shocked in a couple of months when her sissy comes home.
