15 months!

Jada's 15th month check-up was this week. She is 32 inches tall (92nd percentile) and weighs 25 lbs (82nd percentile)! She's big and strong. Mommy can't believe how fast she's growing. She only weighs 7 lbs. less than Aubree, which I think is kind of funny. She has between 30-40 words that she says regularly, which the doctor said is more like what he'd expect at 18 months.

Jada's 10 favorite things include:
1.) Her babies. She always goes for her dolls, and gets very mad when Aubree takes one. She also learned the sign for "baby," which is a cute little rocking in the arms motion.
2.) CLIMBING-- She's great at it. She gets up in her yellow rocker by herself and rocks. She gets on Aubree's bed, the couch, the big recliner. If I'm not holding her she is often trying to climb up me.
3.) Dancing, Singing, Actions and Signs. She is, for lack of a better term, very physical, and she has some seriously good rhythm. She is in motion any time that she's awake.
4.) She loves playing with a ball... usually her little tee-ball. She hasn't discovered the bat yet, thank goodness.
5.) She loves wrestling with Aubree. The two of them get some serious giggles going when they're rolling around on each other.
6.) Eating- Jada will EAT anything we give her, from chicken noodle casserole, enchiladas, TUNA SALAD. If I can rip it up small enough, she'll try it. She generally eats her food and most of the stuff Aubree rejects. :)
7.) Friends-- She loves people, but does have a little more stranger anxiety than Aubree did. She says "Hi" to everyone she sees in the store and smiles her big infectious grin. She doesn't like being dropped off at Sunday School, and in general, she doesn't like it when I leave the room she's in.
8.) Splashing... If I can keep Jada's hands out of the toilet for an entire day, it's been a good day. haha. I know, gross, but kind of true. I'm just glad Aubree has gotten better at flushing.
9.) Phones and Remote controls. She always has one in hand or is after one. She picks them up and shouts "Hello!!! Hello?" (more like "Hel-wo!"- think "parrot") and then cracks up. She's constantly hiding my phone from me, and changing the channels on the TV. She also loves my laptop. If I touch it, she's beside me immediately trying to help me type, which is why I'm blogging while she's asleep! If it has buttons, she's into it.
10.) Her Misha, so glad we have a sweet, patient dog, she is the lucky recipient of lots of sticky "pat-pats," kisses, and cuddles from Jada. Jada also likes to sneak away to splash in Misha's bowl and sample her dog food. She's only gotten it in her mouth once (on Daddy's watch! lol)
Our favorite new tricks of Jada's:
  • Leaning forward and planting kisses on us,
  • Saying "cheese" for the camera,
  • Trying to color with crayons
  • Singing and signing "The Wheels on the Bus"... MUST GET VIDEO SOON! lol. It's hysterical.

Another surprise

Apparently a very cute (and rowdy) 3-year-old has been lurking under this wild hair all summer. I finally broke down and decided that this one needs bangs.

Who knew?

Apparently toddlers love chocolate chip cookies.
She looks pretty happy with herself, doesn't she?

In Aubree's World

Eating corn-on-the-cob is pretty intimidating;
Sunglasses automatically make her a "movie-star;"
No princes are necessary. She has Doc!!
Making cookies is messy and delicious business;
And looking neat and tidy is for girly-girls! This headband never lasts past breakfast.

Jada's pretty busy

Telling on her sissy,
Riding on her pony,
downing bottles like crazy,
having snacks (with Baby Callie),
& looking for new molars. (This is her telling me that they hurt!)

Finger-painting

I got brave last week and let Jada have a go at finger-painting. Here are the two of the little budding artists creating their masterpieces.
Just a little bit messy.

Love the concentration. This could be worth millions of dollars some day. :-)

Back at the Museum

Our pretty little daisy- This is Jada in "Isa's Flowery Garden" in the Dora exhibit.
While Aubree is cheesing it up on Baby Jaguar....
Jada is big enough to really have some fun at the museum now. She's out of the stroller and on the go. She even found a little boyfriend while she was in this area. I was laughing too hard to get a good picture. She was getting very up close and personal with the poor little guy.
Grandpa Doug is a pretty funny T-Rex. (Aubree wasn't the only one giggling.) Love that you put on a tail and play, Dad!!!
Not sure why, but Aubree loves these little stuffed dino eggs. She hoards them into her "nest" every time we go and gets a little upset if someone beats her to it.
We LOVE the Children's Museum and are ready for another trip soon!!!
